Celebrate Love.
We love being a part of your celebrations of love. Engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, weddings and anniversaries - we are here for it all with options for cakes, small desserts, favors, and more.
****
(Psst, it’s not just weddings — these pretty and delicious treats are great for anniversaries, baby showers, graduations, retirement parties and more!)
Take a look below at what we do (and don’t do) and get in touch via phone if you’d like us to work some of our magic for your event.
Let’s start with cake.
Cake is traditionally a big part of the wedding, but these days, you have a lot of choice about that cake.
You may know exactly what you want, or we will be happy to help you decide, but the options are plentiful. You may go with one large tiered cake that gives enough servings for all of your guests. You can do a smaller tiered cake that gets cut for the ceremony of it, and then additional servings for the guests can come from a non-tiered (read: more budget-friendly) cake that gets cut behind the scenes. Or you can do cupcakes, or a buffet of smaller cakes in various flavors, or just a little sweetheart cake, or you can do an assortment of desserts and no cake at all. One more option to throw at you; we do a tiered cinnamon bun cake if that’s more your speed. We have many options for a wide range of budgets and we’ll be happy to work with you to come up with what feels best for you.
Now, a little bit about what we offer and how we work…
Think classic and elegant.
And of course, delicious — that’s the number one priority — but we sure do love to make those cakes and sweets look pretty, while we’re at it!
We’re all about baking up classic, elegant, modest cakes, and decorating them with fresh flowers and/or fruit. We do two-tiered and three-tiered cakes, and we do cake buffets, where you have a range of standard layer-cakes in various flavors and sizes. We do small-cakes-for-all-guest-tables, and though we haven’t done one yet, we’re totally down to do the long-cake or sheet-cake table-scape thing. and we’re anticipating doing quite a few of those this year. We do bite-size portions of individual desserts, too, to round out your offerings. We can do seasonal pies, and we can even do a stacked/tiered cinnamon bun cake, if you’re looking for something a little different.
We’re a small bake shop, and smaller weddings are more our thing than grande affairs. We did A LOT of tiny weddings cakes the past few years for the micro wedding thing, and we really kind of love it. So let’s say our specialty is the event for 2-100/150. Our largest three-tiered cake gives just under 100 servings, but if your guest list is a little bigger than that, we can offer cupcakes or supplemental cakes to make up the servings. If you’re looking for a towering four or five-tiered cake and/or looking to serve 200+ guests, we might not be the right bakery for your event.
Flavors
Freshness is our biggest concern, as well as offering a selection of flavors that will both inspire and delight. We keep our list of flavors and fillings down to what we can make fresh, from real ingredients, in each season. Of course we do classic vanilla, and we do a killer chocolate stout cake. For the more adventurous, we have our orange+almond+poppy cake, or our vanilla+lavender, or brown-sugar+bourbon. (See the Cakes section of this site for the full list and more info on flavors.) Our Swiss meringue buttercream is positively dreamy and while classic vanilla is a wonderful match with most flavors, we can get adventurous with our buttercream fillings if you wish — hello matcha or salted caramel? We do put a lot of care and love into our baked goods, and we’re convinced that it’s the love that makes our desserts stand out. We do offer vegan options. We do not offer gluten-free cakes or cupcakes. While we are happy to do custom buttercream filling flavors, we do not offer custom cake flavors - we do only the cakes on our menu, as we have tested them over years for stability (important in tiered cakes!) and freshness.
Design
We favor a simple, as in classically elegant, style over trendy cake decorating fads. We love decorating with fresh flowers and/or fruit as it tends to reflect the season of your event. In addition to flowers and fruit, we’re happy to add pops of gold, texture, a chocolate drip, sprinkles - there are lots of options within our classically elegant repetoire. You can see many more photos of the style we tend to favor on our Instagram/Facebook - there is a Story Highlight of Weddings on our Instagram page. Please note, though, that we are a small and busy little bakery that loves making delicious cakes - we are not a cake studio, and we do not specialize in custom trendy decoration.
Flowers
You may have noticed, from our photos, that we tend to work a lot with flowers. It’s kind of our thing. Kimberly has been doing flowers-on-cakes since well before it’s become the big trend it is now. The way we like to do it is to be very intentional about it. We very much prefer to use flowers that are in season, and we very much prefer to use the flowers that we grow - organically grown, non-toxic varieties. In addition to our on-site bakery garden, with its 18+ rose bushes, herbs, pansies, and dozens of varieties of accent flowers, we grow literally hundreds of flowers on our local but off-site farm plot. We have it planned so that there is always something beautifully blooming, in a good varietiy of colors, from May through October. (Read more about our process and passion in the FLOWERS section of this site.) We love using these flowers on our wedding cakes. We can work with flowers from your florist, too, if you want everything to be exactly match-y-match-y. But yes, as you can see, flowers are our vibe. We won’t be mad at you and we’ll still love to do your cake if you prefer to go with no flowers. We do work a little differently than other bakers in this way, too - when using flowers from your florist, we actually prefer to do the placement rather than leave it to the florist. But we can work that part out when we get to it.
Desserts
In addition to cake, we're happy to work with you to come up with an assortment of desserts that will be both memorable and delicious for you and your guests.
Some of our standard offerings include: bite-sized portions of our beloved salted caramel brownies, raspberry oat bars, caramel+coconut bars, and creamy lemon bars. Lemon or fresh fruit & cream tartlettes in the summer, apple and pumpkin ones in the fall, and keylime and/or chocolate+caramel ones always. Cream puffs, mini cupcakes, madeleines, cookies, and more. We can do packaged treats for favors, too. Our pressed-flower cookies have been wildly popular the past couple of years and we love making them. They’re wonderful on a dessert bar, or individually-packaged for welcomes and favors.
What we don’t do (Sorry, it’s just not our thing!)
Fondant, specialty cake art (including vintage-style cakes) artificial or out-of-season fruit/flavored cakes, sugar flowers/sculpted flowers, shaped cakes (we do round), cake pops, intricately-decorated cookies, heavy on the colors (we keep our cakes and frosting as natural as possible), painting or drawing on cakes, and gluten-free cakes. If you must have one of these items, no hard feelings! We are happy to recommend another local bake shop that can make it happen for you. You can find more images of the kind of work we do in the other pages of this website and on our Instagram/Facebook.
Pricing
Our prices are fair and reasonable for delicious baked goods made from scratch with quality ingredients and care. We are happy to work with all budgets - we can go big and go all out, or we can keep it simple, modest and sweet.
Black-out dates
Holidays are madness for us, which we love, cherish, and celebrate. For this reason, we do not book wedding cakes the weekends of Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Years.
Delivery
We are a small, local shop. We offer delivery and set-up to venues in our surrounding area. Anything over 45-60 minutes away is outside our range. (Sorry!) We do charge a modest delivery fee which includes cake set-up. Some smaller cakes we are happy to send out the door for you/a trusted guest to transport and set-up. For larger tiered cakes, we do recommend delivery so that we can have all the stress of making sure your cake makes it there safely.
Tastings
At this time, because we are such a small and busy little bakery (again, not a cake studio), we are not able to offer formal in-house tastings. However, we will be organizing a Spring tasting event and a Fall tasting event. SPRING TASTING EVENT: Dates to be announced soon! See below for details! Please stay tuned to our social media to find out more as we firm up our fall dates.
Booking and Timing
While we try to keep things easy and casual, it is in everyone’s best interest to book your date as soon as possible. Because we specialize more in small weddings and events than huge bashes, we’re able to take up to five events per weekend, but those dates do fill in! Please call on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday 11am-5/6pm to discuss your date and vision, and to get onto our calendar. After an initial chat, we’ll have a pretty good idea of whether we’re well suited to bake up your wedding dreams, and then from there, we can follow up with an in-person meeting (if you’re local) to go over more specific details, like wedding cake silhouette and flavors and decoration and additional dessert ideas. Email works for communication, too, but please note - it is difficult for me to keep up with all of the emails sometimes. If you don’t hear back from me, please follow up with a phone call during business/office hours! Please, no contact via social media.
Personalized service
We keep saying it “we’re a small operation”, because we are. Maybe a fancier way of saying it is, “we’re a boutique bakery.” There are literally 2.5 of us bakers (one is part-time) and one part-time front-of-house/admin superstar. We don’t advertise on The Knot or Google or any of those other sites, because we like being this small, very special little spot that offers personalized service and a level of attention-to-detail that some of the bigger bakeries and cake houses just don’t get. Kimberly has been doing wedding cakes for over ten years and she takes every single one, from the “simple” micro-wedding cake to the challenging large affairs seriously and with passion. We think through all the details and realities from what kind of cake is stable in various situations to how best to transport cakes and other sweets to what types of flowers really hold up on a cake (not just an instagram pic) and more. So, while it has its limitations - we can’t take on huge events, we do book up quickly sometimes, we can’t do aaaallll the trendy things, and we can be difficult to get ahold of unless you call during our preferred “office” hours (11-5/6pm Wed-Fri), we think the benefits and the reward of our authentic vision and our commitment to freshness is worth it.
Celebrate love.
Obviously, most of this has been about the main event - the wedding - but we are also happy to do cakes and sweets for all the events leading up to and after the big day. Engagemet party cake, bridal shower treats, rehearsal dinner desserts, goodie-bags for guests who’ve traveled for the celebration, breakfast bakes for the wedding party - and then anniversary cake and baby’s first birthday…. let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but we’re just a phonecall away if you’d like to plan.
But then there’s so much more than cake, and so many other events to celebrate with beautiful, memorable baked goods.
Spring Tasting Event
As we’ve mentioned above, we are a very small and very busy little bakery, not a cake studio. For this reason, we do not offer formal in-house tastings. What we DO offer, however, is a SPRING/SUMMER and FALL/WINTER tasting event, where couples can pre-order a curated box of four set cake flavors, along with two mini cupcakes and two of our pressed flower cookies, boxed for pick-up/takeaway. Our SPRING tasting event will be March 22+23. (Ordering is open now - click the button below!) The FALL tasting will be in September - date TBD. Tasting boxes are a paid event/item; the cost per box is $32. Note: we do not charge for our informal tasting boxes, which can be picked up most weekends with at least 3 days notice, but with those, we cannot guarantee what or how many flavors will be included - and they’re in the form of cake tacos, not pretty slices.
